I have the healthiest, most plump, clearest skin in the world, and all I do is run 10 miles everyday, eat healthy, couple pieces of dark chocolate, couple beers a week, and take fish oil and vitamin b12 supplements, and celery at the end of the day to cleanse my system. And I’m sure genetics play a role too.

i’ve used those aveeno products. they didn’t work for me though. i think people also have to remember that there are different types of acne-prone skin. my skin is oily so that moisturizer was not for me lol it was too thick and didn’t help the oiliness. the best moisturizers that i’ve used are (in the winter/fall) clinique’s dramatically different and (in the spring/summer) proactiv green tea moisturizer. those and a bp scrub plus tazorac at night have kept my skin clear.

your skin is lovely! AloeforMocha skin care is a new line for african american skin – nature based products work for our skin. no parabens colors fragrances or other icky stuff products feel really nice too

you are soooo gorgeous! i couldn’t agree more with what you said about healthy eating and exercise.
another great cleanser for sensitive skin is purpose cleanser. i swear by the stuff.
great products!
the only thing is, witch hazel is so bad for your skin (all astringents are). if your cleanser and benzoyl peroxide are doing their jobs, you don’t need an astringent or toner at all, and all they really do is dry out your skin, which can lead to more breakouts!
great video : )

well im just going based on wat i see…maybe u notice it more b/c ure up close in the mirror looking at it…i wasnt saying that all darker skinned people cant have uneven skin or dark spots but overall it just seems like darker skinned complexions seem to have this smooth sheen thing going on…btw wat is the best thing for acne scars ne way?
Comment by Dawn0564 — September 9, 2010 @ 8:18 am
what kind of dark skin ppl are you talking about? most of us black women have very dark or black acne scars…you need to see my face to believe it if you claim to have never seen those black blemishes or acne scars on black ppl…

is the aveeno soap you use good for sensitive skin?
Comment by jsamot1 — September 9, 2010 @ 9:43 am

Actually, that is incorrect. There is something called Melasma that affects dark skinned people. My mother is East Indian descent and she has this condition. The more she goes into the sun is the darker the spots get and her dermatologist emphasizes the use of sunblock. Its looks exactly like rosacea but dark brown. The sun is just as damaging to darker complexions.

i have light skin…i have never had a “pink” problem in terms of scarring ive never seen a light complexion black woman wit pink acne scars neither. i disagree with you because many, not all, darker people have the ability to have even skin because their skin is darker you don’t always see the scars. in fact, ive never seen a very dark woman with acne scars, their skin usually looks perfect.

There’s this thing called Persagel by Clean & Clear and it’s the same thing as what the doctor prescribes. You can get it at Target or Walmart and most drugstores.
Comment by sasababy14 — September 9, 2010 @ 12:56 pm
where could i get the benzayl peroxide? other then a doctor !
Comment by mohammad1170 — September 9, 2010 @ 1:07 pm
Hmm, I don’t find that to be true. On a lighter complected person problems show up pink or darker as opposed to a person with a darker complexion problems show up brownish or darker… doesn’t mean they don’t show.
